This role involves heavy manual handling, industrial cleaning, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. The successful applicant must be willing to get their hands dirty, handle hazardous equipment, and be comfortable performing repetitive, physically demanding tasks for extended hours with minimal supervision.

We are seeking a highly reliable, physically resilient, and experienced general labourer to support daily operations at our gas cylinder filling and testing station. This is not a light-duty or entry-level role. Applicants must meet all listed requirements to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with industrial gas cylinder filling, testing, loading, unloading, and compliance labelling

  • Operate hand tools and assist in basic mechanical maintenance under supervision

  • Conduct thorough cleaning of industrial machinery, gas testing equipment, and work areas

  • Maintain strict hygiene across the facility, including cleaning of staff washrooms and high-use areas

  • Sanitize and pressure-wash the outdoor and indoor areas as required

  • Handle hazardous substances and follow strict safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Support regular stock movement, cylinder organization, and lifting of heavy inventory items (up to 30–40 kg repeatedly)

  • Drive between sites or for delivery support when required

  • Follow detailed instructions from supervisors and respond to operational changes quickly

  • Complete any other task required to support station operations and safety compliance

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent, proven experience in a testing facility, hazardous goods environment, or comparable industrial setting

  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence (manual preferred) and willingness to drive for work purposes

  • Must pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening

  • Must provide a Ministry of Justice criminal background report

  • Physically fit capable of repetitive heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and handling large cylinders and gear

  • Willing to work outdoors in cold, wet, and windy conditions, including extended hours if required

  • Must be able to clean washrooms and perform deep cleaning tasks without hesitation

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal safety protocols

  • Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and personal responsibility

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) to read safety instructions and communicate clearly

  • Forklift licence or Dangerous Goods endorsement is an advantage

Working Environment & Conditions:

  • Industrial environment with high safety expectations

  • Exposure to LPG, gas cylinders, testing pressure, and confined spaces

  • Outdoor work required year-round, including during adverse weather

  • PPE and safety training provided

  • Shift-based or rostered work may apply depending on business needs

  • Willing to do split shift and able to work on the weekend and public holidays

Hours & Pay:

  • Minimum Hours: 30 per week

  • Pay Rate: $23.75 per hour 

  • Willing to take additional hours as and when required based on operational demand

Note: This is a hands-on, physically intense, and safety-critical role. Applicants without relevant experience will not be considered.
