​​Job Description

  • interpreting plans and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation methods
  • erecting and dismantling restricted-height scaffolding to access work areas
  • applying damp-proofing materials to foundations and spreading mortar as a base and binder for bricks or blocks
  • laying bricks, pre-cut stones, and other masonry units in rows, designs, and shapes, ensuring mortar is evenly applied between joints
  • embedding bricks and blocks in mortar, removing excess mortar, and ensuring structures meet vertical and horizontal alignment
  • cutting, shaping, and polishing bricks, stones, and masonry units using hand tools and machines to fit designated spaces and designs
  • repairing, maintaining, and restoring brickwork, stonework, cement blocks, and related masonry structures
  • designing, cutting, and inscribing monumental masonry, including decorative stonework and lettering
  • constructing walls, partitions, arches, and other structures using stone slabs, masonry blocks, and large format stone
  • cutting, polishing, joining, and installing stone kitchen benchtops and similar stone fixtures
  • preparing bases and laying segmental paving as required
  • building and repairing structures using bricks, stones, and other masonry materials for walls, arches, partitions, paving, and similar applications
  • performing other reasonable duties as directed by the employer

More details about the position

  • Location: Auckland
  • Job type: Full-time
  • Pay rate: 25.00- 35.00 New Zealand dollars per hour
  • Days required: Monday to Saturday
  • Hours per week: At least 30

Job Requirement

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience, or a relevant NZ level 4 qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification is required.
