We’re on the lookout for skilled and experienced Mobile Plant Operators to join our team, supporting orchard construction and maintenance. This is a permanent, full-time role based in the Western Bay of Plenty, offering 30 to 45 hours of work per week.

We’re on the lookout for skilled and experienced Mobile Plant Operators to join our team, supporting orchard construction and maintenance. This is a permanent, full-time role based in the Western Bay of Plenty, offering 30 to 45 hours of work per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate either a 3.0 m or 6.5 m Hydralada
- Navigate mobile plant equipment across orchard locations
- Select and attach the correct fittings to each machine
- Use mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical controls to move materials and operate attachments
- Carry out tasks such as:
- High-shelter and cloth preparation
- Pole work - including distributing and ramming poles
- Cable and wire setup
- Monitor machinery performance via control-panel readings
- Perform minor repairs and report mechanical issues promptly
- Maintain machinery condition with regular checks and upkeep
- Operate additional equipment including:
- Forklifts, JCB/Skid Steer, tractors, quad bikes, winches, strainers, and other attachments/tools
- Follow The Baygold Way by adhering to all Health & Safety procedures an identifying and reporting hazards and risks proactively
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- A level 4 qualification on the NZ Qualification Framework (NZQF)
or - At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to perform basic measurements and mathematical calculations
- Comfortable and skilled working at heights
- Working at Heights certification (or equivalent experience)
- Physically strong and fit, with a focus on safe work practices
- Forklift license
Desirable:
- Wheels and Tracks certificate
- Clean NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport
