Position: Painter Lead

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter Lead to oversee and execute a wide range of painting projects across residential and commercial sites. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, excellent paint application techniques, and the ability to manage a team to deliver high-quality finishes on time and within scope. You will be responsible for coordinating painting jobs from preparation through to completion, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the process.

 

Job duties:

·         Discuss plans with relevant clients

·         Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary

·         Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding and ladders, covering fixtures etc.

·         Selecting the appropriate painting materials for different sites

·         Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting including cleaning, sanding and patching by removing old paint and wall paper, fixing holes and cracks, smoothing and sealing, etc.

·         Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture

·         Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools

·         Apply various paint finishes, including brush, rollers, spray application to interior and exterior surfaces

·         Match paint samples for touch up

·         Hanging wallpaper when required, trimming edges

·         Tidying up and cleaning the tools, equipment and the work areas

·         Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions, including working at heights

·         Work effectively with other tradespeople on the construction site

·         Lead and supervise painting crews on various job sites

·         Any other duties the employer reasonably may require employee to perform

 

Pay rate: minimum $32.00/hour   maximum $35.00/hour

 

Guaranteed hours of work per week:  minimum of 30 hours per week

 

Requirements for the job:

·         At least 2 years of r work experience as a professional painter

·         Strong knowledge of surface preparation paint application method, painting materials  and painting skills, also using painting tools

·         Have a positive attitude

·         Be Reliable and punctual

·         Ability to work independently and as part of team

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks

·         Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to work in various conditions including heights

·         Be physically fit

·         Full time availability, may works on weekends

·         Valid New Zealand driver’s license and reliable transportation

·         No criminal record

·         Candidates need to be NZ citizens/residents
