Opportunity to gain experience on a large marine project. 3-6 month contract for experienced trade assistant.
About the role:
Our client requires a practical, reliable and process-driven person for a Trade Assistant/Fire Sentry role. This is a temporary role and is expected to start in August and run for between 3-6 months.
You may be a student with some hands on experience looking to get a foot in the door in the engineering industry, a current labourer or trade assistant looking to extend your experience in engineering.

They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts.

- Assisting tradesmen (fabricators & welders) with tools and equipment
- Fire Watch
- Operating grinders, setting up welders
- Assisting Fabricators with their work
- General upkeep of Workshop and site
- Ensuring a safe working environment and mitigating fire risk
- Emergency evacuation procedures, in the case of an emergency

Skills + Experience:
For this role, you will:
- Be prepared to undertake necessary training and happy to work in confined spaces and at heights
- Experience in a workshop or engineering environment
- Capable of operating power tools such as grinders and workshop machinery.
- Be diligent and reliable, with excellent communication skills
- A current driver’s license
- Clean criminal history
- Supply 2 verbal references
- Excellent hourly rate + overtime available
- You'll receive Confined Space + Fire Training (tickets will be valid for 3 years)
- PPE is provided (excluding safety boots, which you will supply)
