The Opportunity

We are currently seeking passionate and experienced Chefs to join our dynamic and friendly team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen, enjoys crafting traditional Thai dishes, and takes pride in food quality and presentation.

 

About the Role

  • Position Title: Chef
  • Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
  • Location: Dunedin, New Zealand
  • Minimum Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Working Days & Hours: 7 days/week, rostered shifts between 6:00 AM and 4:00 AM
  • Pay Rate: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour (depending on experience and skills)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise food preparation and cooking operations
  • Ensure dishes are consistently prepared and presented to a high standard
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and efficiency
  • Develop new menu items, recipes, and daily specials
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Manage inventory and supplies, including ordering and delivery checks
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Control waste and manage food costs
  • Cater to special dietary requirements as needed
  • Work closely with restaurant management to improve kitchen performance
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

About You

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar kitchen environment (Thai cuisine preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of Thai ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Flexible and reliable – willing to work weekends, evenings, and varied shifts
  • Strong communication skills and a cooperative team spirit
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail

 

Eligibility
