We're now looking for a Building Technician (Materials Focus) to join our project delivery team based in Auckland. This is a technical role ideal for someone with hands-on experience in construction materials, product evaluation, and on-site coordination.
Note: This position is open to New Zealand citizens and holders of New Zealand Resident Class Visas only.
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Employment Type: Full-time Positions (Minimum 30 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and advise on the use of building materials in accordance with project specifications and relevant New Zealand standards.

Calculate material quantities based on design drawings and construction schedules to support accurate procurement and cost control.

Monitor on-site material usage and report on variances against project budgets.

Assist with supplier pricing comparisons and recommend cost-effective material alternatives.

Maintain clear records of material deliveries, usage rates, and wastage to improve site efficiency.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure materials comply with durability, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Coordinate materials planning with project managers, site supervisors, and quantity surveyors.

Assist in preparing documentation for building consent applications and council inspections, particularly relating to material performance and durability.
Requirements

Level 6 Diploma or higher in Materials Engineering, Construction Management.
(Having at least 2 years work experience in a construction or materials control role may be accepted in place of a formal qualification). -
Strong communication and documentation skills.
