Best Sushi in Rototua is looking for a cooks to join us, mainly responsible for preparing and cooking our menu food such as sushi, ramen, bento and soup. This is a full time permanent position, immediate start if you are successfully offered the job. You will work 30-40 hours per week (minimum 30 hours guarantee), with hourly rate of $25-30, negotiable, depending on your skills and experience. Please be aware that you will need to work nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Key duties will include:

  • examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • preparing and making menu foods
  • seasoning food during cooking
  • portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • may plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • may train other kitchen staff and apprentices
  • any other duties that may be assigned by the owner.  

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of work experience in making sushi, or a relevant qualification at NZQF level 2 or higher
  • Available to work on weekends and public holidays when required
  • Clean police certificate
  • Drug free
