Chef

With an expanding clientele in Wellington, we are currently looking for a qualified Chef who is attentive to and skilful in food preparation and production.

What you do:

•  Ensure that the high standards of contemporary Café style cuisines served to our customers by setting short order menus, processes and standards effectively.

•  Update menus and develop additional menu options in accordance with trend and demand.

•  Ensure food is prepared and produced as per customer orders, and delivered in a timely manner.

•  Organise, manage and implement the procedures for cabinet food production, savoury & sweet, etc.

•  Allocate and utilise existing resources, including physical and human resources based on efficient cost evaluation, tracking and control.

•  Manage food cost in line with the kitchen budget and ensure stock records are accurate and stock is ordered efficiently.

•  Communicate everyday with the other kitchen staff in regards to the day to day running of the kitchen and oversee all aspects of the kitchen operation.

•  Discuss food preparation and serving issues with all staff for on-going improvement.

•  Ensure that all food preparation, preservation and serve to our customers in a hygienic way with quality assurance.

•  Set up a food control plan and ensure compliance at all times with all Health & Safety requirements.

•  Ensure all kitchen practices are compliant with OSH best practice.

•  Ensure a hand over at the end of each shift is completed and records are kept for compliant and improvement investigation.

•  Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported in the register of injuries book and accident report forms are completed if required.

•  Mentor younger and less experienced members of the staff by ensuring that cooking procedures and techniques are clearly explained and demonstrated.

•  Assist with the selection of staff and ensure that accurate records of staff attendance and performance are maintained.

The right candidate:

•  At least 2 years of relevant experience.

•  Good knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine

•  Excellent time management ability

•  Ability to remain calm with leadership and undertake various tasks

•  Understand and know what to do in the event of an emergency

•  Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques, food products and recipes

•  Familiarity with sanitation regulations

•  Bringing the heartiest principles to life offerings as well as an authentic experience to our customers

•  Have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

•  You will be required to work weekends and holidays.

The employment is on an ongoing basis. The role is based on an assured 30-hour working week carried out in Wellington.
