Universal Marketing Co. Limited started the restaurant business in March 2003. Currently, we have ten branches around Auckland and Hamilton. Due to the business requirement, we are seeking two full-time chefs to join our team.

As a chef, you will be working minimum of 30 hours per week on a roster. 

Job Description:

  • Ensure all equipment is clean and fully operational prior to production, in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including recruitment, selection, and training to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Estimate and monitor food and labor costs, and establish pricing for menu items accordingly.
  • Stay informed on culinary trends and customer preferences to assist with menu planning and regular updates.
  • Execute a variety of food preparation techniques, such as kneading, fermenting, cutting, molding, mixing, and shaping dough.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all cooking equipment following use.
  • Collaborate closely with management, kitchen, and service staff on food prep duties, including dough preparation, marinating, and other processes.
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation and quality in all dishes served.
  • Enforce food safety and hygiene regulations, and effectively communicate these standards to staff.
  • Oversee proper freezing, storage, and preservation methods as required.
  • Manage inventory of kitchen supplies and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

About you: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstration of good character with no criminal record is essential.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience or Relevant NZQF level 4 or above qualification
