We, L & W Holiday Ltd, are looking to hire Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Christchurch, New Zealand for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles.

Employment type: Permanent

Days required: 5 days a week

Hours per week: minimum of 30 hours a week is guaranteed, maximum 50 hours of work per week

Hourly rate: $29.66 - $30.00 depends on the coach experiences and level

Job description: 

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.

  • Analyzing diagnostic test results.

  • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.

  • Checking vehicle lighting systems.

  • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.

  • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.

  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.

  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.

  • Maintaining a parts inventory.

  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.

Job pre-requisites: 

  • At least 3 years Automotive and engine repair experience required, or relevant Level 4 qualification required.

  • ASE Diesel certifications required.

  • Hold a valid driver license.

  • Must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.

  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.

  • Ability to use the diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on-the-job training.

  • Good hand-eye coordination.
