Yongfa Trading Limited is an Auckland based restaurant, due to business needs, they are looking for 3 cooks and 1 Waiter/Waitress to join their team. 

All the positions are permanent with guaranteed minimum 30 working hours per week. 

Cook ($25-$30)

The main job responsibilities include but not limit to:

  • Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Checking ingredients to make sure the quality and freshness
  • Preparing and Cooking Chinese food in various utensils and grillers
  • Seasoning, portioning, adding sauces to the food during/after cooking
  • Preparing food to meet client’s taste and dietary needs
  • Arrange food on plates or wrap it to be taken away
  • Storing and reserving food
  • Assisting in planning menus, estimating food and labour costs
  • Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
  • Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Assisting with training and coordinating with junior cooks or kitchen hands, as requested by Executive Chinese Chef

 

To be successful, you will need to

  • NZQA Level 4 or above qualification
  • At least 2 year work experience in cooking Chinese cuisine could substitute the qualification requirement
  • Have the skills and knowledge to operating Chinese wok and knife
  • Flexibility to work on weekend and night shifts, overtime may be required
  • Has positive and willing attitude to learn

 

Waiter/Waitress (24-28)

The main job responsibilities include but not limit to:

  • Welcoming customers as they arrive, showing them to their seats, and providing menus beverage lists
  • Taking orders and relaying them to kitchen and bar staff
  •  Serving food and beverage.
  • Opening bottles and pouring beverages
  • Clearing tables and ensuring that the dining area is clean and tidy.
  • Handling payments, including processing credit card transactions and making changes.
  • Recommending dishes: Waiters/Waitresses should be familiar with the menu and able to make recommendations to customers based on their preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Handling customer complaints or issues that arise.
  • Having a basic understanding of Chinese cuisine and culture.

To be successfully, you will need to

  • NZQA Level 4 or above qualification
  • At least 2 year work experience in relevant position could substitute the qualification requirement
  • Able to work under pressure
  •  Be good at problem solving
