Yongfa Trading Limited is an Auckland based restaurant, due to business needs, they are looking for 3 cooks and 1 Waiter/Waitress to join their team.
All the positions are permanent with guaranteed minimum 30 working hours per week.
Cook ($25-$30)
The main job responsibilities include but not limit to:
- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Checking ingredients to make sure the quality and freshness
- Preparing and Cooking Chinese food in various utensils and grillers
- Seasoning, portioning, adding sauces to the food during/after cooking
- Preparing food to meet client’s taste and dietary needs
- Arrange food on plates or wrap it to be taken away
- Storing and reserving food
- Assisting in planning menus, estimating food and labour costs
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assisting with training and coordinating with junior cooks or kitchen hands, as requested by Executive Chinese Chef
To be successful, you will need to
- NZQA Level 4 or above qualification
- At least 2 year work experience in cooking Chinese cuisine could substitute the qualification requirement
- Have the skills and knowledge to operating Chinese wok and knife
- Flexibility to work on weekend and night shifts, overtime may be required
- Has positive and willing attitude to learn
Waiter/Waitress (24-28)
The main job responsibilities include but not limit to:
- Welcoming customers as they arrive, showing them to their seats, and providing menus beverage lists
- Taking orders and relaying them to kitchen and bar staff
- Serving food and beverage.
- Opening bottles and pouring beverages
- Clearing tables and ensuring that the dining area is clean and tidy.
- Handling payments, including processing credit card transactions and making changes.
- Recommending dishes: Waiters/Waitresses should be familiar with the menu and able to make recommendations to customers based on their preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Handling customer complaints or issues that arise.
- Having a basic understanding of Chinese cuisine and culture.

- NZQA Level 4 or above qualification
- At least 2 year work experience in relevant position could substitute the qualification requirement
- Able to work under pressure
- Be good at problem solving
