We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Project Manager to oversee a variety of construction projects from initiation to completion. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory standards. This role requires close coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, as well as regular reporting to the parent company in China.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning: Develop project scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
Budget Management: Prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
Team Coordination: Supervise contractors, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring efficient teamwork and performance.
Quality & Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards in workmanship and ensure all regulatory and safety requirements are adhered to.
Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively manage project risks and issues.
Procurement: Oversee materials and service procurement; negotiate and manage contracts.
Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders, and report to the company’s overseas head office.
Documentation & Consents: Handle all relevant applications and approvals (e.g. Resource Consent, Building Consent, Engineering Plan Approvals, COAs, CCCs, etc.)
Project Reporting: Provide timely and accurate updates on progress and deliverables.
Project Close-out: Lead final inspections and ensure handover meets all contractual and regulatory conditions.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum 3 years' experience in construction project management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand building codes and construction standards.
Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Procore, or Buildertrend.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Physical & Other Requirements
Ability to work on construction sites and conduct inspections.
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand (citizen, resident, or hold valid visa).
