General Manager

We have been BUZZed and looking for a General Manager or Management Couple for a character-filled destination property in the heart of Taranaki. Boasting 10 rooms, onsite restaurant and bar and function space, this business currently operates 5 days a week and has huge potential for growth. The current managers have loved their time but it's now time to hand over the batten...are you ready to continue the BUZZ?
 
The property has a strong local following and international visit during the high season, with untapped potential for growth. We’re seeking a passionate and capable General Manager(s) to take the reins and help drive the business forward. This is a rare opportunity to make a real difference in a hands-on leadership role. The ownership is fully committed to change, growth, and empowering the right person or couple to lead the transformation of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Full management of day-to-day accommodation and restaurant operations
• Lead, train, and support a dedicated, multi-skilled team
• Work alongside the Head Chef to ensure a top-quality à la carte offering
• Manage guest relations, bookings, staff scheduling, inventory, and supplier coordination
• Maximise bookings through third-party platforms and channel managers
• Uphold high standards of cleanliness, compliance, and customer care
• Drive growth through operational efficiencies, community engagement, and strategic marketing

About you:

• Demonstrated experience in hospitality management - strong F&B background 
• Strong knowledge of third-party booking systems (Booking.com, Expedia, etc.)
• Current LCQ and General Manager’s Certificate
• Full driver’s license
• Hands-on leadership style with excellent communication skills
• Understand how to deliver true kiwi hospitality 
• Financial literacy and confidence managing budgets, payroll, and purchasing
• Strong eye for detail, service quality, and team development
