We are seeking three experienced Chefs to join a busy hospitality/resort venue in Franz Josef, West Coast. The role involves preparing and cooking à la carte and buffet dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, managing prep and stock, and working as part of a rostered kitchen team. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years’ relevant experience or a formal culinary qualification.

Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours per week, rostered across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
Pay Rate: $28.50–$31.00 per hour (depending on experience)


Job Purpose:

To support and lead day-to-day kitchen operations by preparing and presenting high-quality food across à la carte and buffet services, ensuring food safety standards, consistency in presentation, and efficient kitchen workflow.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present a range of dishes using commercial kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, hotplates, etc.)

  • Portion, plate, and garnish meals to established presentation standards

  • Check and maintain the cleanliness, readiness, and operation of kitchen equipment before and during service

  • Monitor food quality throughout all stages of preparation and service

  • Assist with seasonal menu planning and implementation

  • Estimate food and labour requirements as part of kitchen operations

  • Support ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies; monitor inventory and rotation

  • Maintain strict hygiene, food handling, and kitchen safety procedures 

  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth service during peak periods

  • Assist in training or mentoring junior kitchen staff, as required


Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least three years of relevant full-time experience or

  • A formal culinary qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher

  • Strong practical knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and commercial kitchen operations

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver consistent quality during high-volume service

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
