Position: Roofer

As roofer position will be carried out roofing work with quality workmanship and efficiency. General roofing work involves residential and commercial re-roofs and new installations, maintenance and roof repairs. This includes Metal roof, metal cladding, gutters, downpipes, rainwater systems including spouting and flashings.

Roofer’s duties & responsibilities:

·       Take roofing measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.

·       Laying long run Metal roofing, roof repair and new roof installation with quality craftsmanship.

·       Able to make custom flashing on site according to work requirements.

·       Install roof back tray & flashing and pipe dektite flashing.

·       Carried out varies types of roof repair work including concrete roof tiles replacement.

·       Install PVC AND Matel spouting, rainwater system and downpipe according to manufacturer specification with quality workmanship.

·       Inspect roof leak places and conduct repairs or maintenance work.

·       working with metal and others roofing materials.

·       Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, Grander, hammers, rulers and others roofing work tools etc.)

·       Set up a roofing site and lay the safety mesh, the underlay, the roof sheets, and screw off sheets and flashing correctly.

·       Participate in improvements that enhance product quality within the time envelope and optimise the labour and material resources required.

·       Carried out Gutter fixing, cleaning, and replacement work.

·       Knowledge of carpentry work and able to be carried out varies carpentry work related with roof and others.

 Key requirements

§  Proven experience as a Roofer.

§  Ability to multitask while working with tight deadlines.

§  Good physical condition and endurance.

§  Excellent oral and written communication in English.

§  Knowledge of Roofing methods and materials.

§  A basic level of maths.

§  Skill interpreting drawing and architectural plans.

§  Willingness to always follow safety guidelines.

§  Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time as required by work assignment.

§  Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including table saws, radial arm saw, drill presses, hammers, saws, planers, ladders, tape measures, levels etc.

§  Requires ability to climb and manoeuvre on ladders scaffolding and in tight spaces.

§  Have proven New Zealand roofing experience on the tools.

§  Full set of hand and power tools for roofing work  

§  Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

§  excellent communication and teamworking skill.

§  A good knowledge and approach to construction health and safety.

§  References of last two employers you have worked with/for.

§  legal right to work in New Zealand.

§  Drug testable.

 

Working conditions

§  Usually work regular business hours but may also work weekends.

§  Work in condition that may be wet muddy, dusty, noisy, cramped or at height.

§  Physically fit, healthy, and strong; building work can involve a lot of heavy lifting.

§  Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling. 

§  Need to be able to read plans.

§  Travel locally to building sites.
