About the position
To support our business growth and expansion, Aibrook is opening a new production facility and introducing state-of-the-art equipment to enhance and expand our product range. We are seeking two skilled Aluminium Sheetmetal Specialists to join our team. In this role, you will be working with aluminium materials, using advanced sheet metal fabrication techniques to produce custom structures and components. The position demands precision and craftsmanship to create products that adhere to exacting quality standards, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
Summary of key information
- Nature of employment: Permanent full-time
- Remuneration: $28.50 to $31.50 per hour
- Overtime rate: at the rate of normal salary for any time worked in addition to an ordinary work week.
- Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 30 hours per week
- Maximum hours of work: 40 hours per week
- Location of work: Aibrook factory in Hillcrest Auckland.
Summary of key responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Carefully review and interpret detailed technical designs, blueprints, and job specifications to plan each manufacturing task efficiently.
- Conduct aluminium material selection and inspection, verify material dimensions, thickness, and properties to ensure they meet project requirements before processing.
- Mark aluminium stock by referencing technical drawings and using measurement tools to ensure precise alignment and preparation for cutting, shaping and assembly.
- Utilise advanced aluminium machinery for precision cutting, corner cutting, punching, profiling end milling, milling drilling etc. to process aluminium sheets and profiles, achieving exact dimensions based on project requirements.
- Shape and form metal components using specialised equipment and hydraulic presses.
- Assemble components into frames, structures, and custom-designed products ensuring seamless fitting and durability.
- Sand, polish, and clean components to ensure smooth finishes, applying protective coatings or treatments as required to meet durability and quality standards.
- Conduct detailed inspections of finished products to ensure compliance with project specifications, functional requirements, and aesthetic expectations.
- Manage equipment operations to ensure smooth operation and minimise downtime, identifying and addressing issues as they arise.
- Conduct repair, on-site assembly, installation, and custom design of aluminium sheetmetal products when required.
- Proactively identify ways to optimise manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience with a focus on aluminium products.
- Expertise in utilising advanced aluminium machinery and sheet metal fabrication techniques, including CNC Cutting, CNC Drilling & Milling, Punching, Hydraulic Pressing etc.
- Proficient in a range of CNC-controlled machinery systems, including those used for cutting, drilling, milling, punching, bending, and forming aluminium components
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving processes.
