Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to identify required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures
  • Measure, cut, and assemble components using appropriate hand and power tools
  • Construct frameworks, including structural supports and roof framing
  • Lay sub-flooring and floorboards with precision to ensure proper alignment and structural stability
  • Install cladding, doors, window frames, roofing panels, and internal linings in accordance with New Zealand building standards
  • Collaborate with other on-site trades to ensure smooth integration of structural and finishing elements
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, quality requirements, and New Zealand building regulations
  • Fabricate and assemble joints using timber and light steel materials
  • Carry out repairs, alterations, and maintenance on existing structures as needed
  • Assemble and install prefabricated components and fittings
  • Work with a variety of construction materials including timber, steel, and plastic laminates as required
Guaranteed hours of work per week:  Minimum 30 hours, permanent full-time

Requirements for the job:

  • Minimum of two years’ carpentry experience or a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification in Carpentry (or equivalent)
  • Skilled in using carpentry tools for cutting, shaping, and assembling structural elements
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and health & safety standards (or willingness to learn)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Applicants need to be NZ citizens/residents or have a valid NZ work visa
  • Be physically fit
  • Full time availability, from Monday to Saturday
  • No criminal record
