THE ROLE – The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the bar. This role involves setting and achieving financial and strategic objectives to drive the success of the establishment.

THE EXPECTATION - The General Manager is responsible for achieving plans and systems that focus on cost-effective operations. Key responsibilities include:

·        Managing stock control

·        Creating a welcoming environment

·        Organizing entertainment

·        Ensuring customer satisfaction

·        Driving sales growth

·        Overseeing staff management

Additionally, the role involves active participation in annual budget preparation, working closely with the owner to establish sales plans and revenue targets.

General responsibilities include ensuring the bar is appropriately staffed, maintaining high standards of work and appearance, implementing strategies and processes for ongoing success, fostering first-class customer interactions, and enforcing health and safety practices. The ultimate goal is to maximize revenue while minimizing costs, requiring excellent attention to detail.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

OPERATIONS

·        Reconcile daily till activities to ensure they balance with daily takings, sign off, and bank the amounts.

·        Verify and sign off on all beverage purchases and deliveries.

·        Conduct weekly accurate stocktakes, reconciling physical stock with inventory records, and address any variances or issues in stock management and controls. Perform the final stocktake for the month on the last day of the relevant month and email the results to the owner by the end of the following day.

·        Reconcile wage sheets against rosters, sign off, and file them. Forward a weekly summary to the owner on an agreed-upon day.

·        Ensure appropriate staffing levels, relevant to the bar's patronage, and provide necessary training.

·        Maintain, adhere to, regularly review, and update all operational procedures and health & safety management systems as required. Ensure all operational staff have the tools to carry out their duties, and uniforms are supplied, maintained, and worn correctly at all times while on duty. Keep uniforms in general in a secure place and record all movements.

·        Assist with bar duties as required.

·        Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and work to deadlines.

·        Involvement in weekly management meetings with owner

 

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

·        Collaborate with the owner to continuously brainstorm and implement strategies to attract new business to the establishment.

·        Plan and execute marketing and promotional strategies within defined budgets, in coordination with the owner.

·        Develop and promote various entertainment evenings to enhance the venue's appeal.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Collaborate with the owner to prepare the annual budget and commentary within agreed timelines.

·        Complete weekly and monthly budget reports.

·        Review monthly management accounts alongside the owner.

·        Ensure all daily expenditures are properly approved.

·        Approve all staff timesheets.

ADMINISTRATION

·        Complete contracts and position descriptions for all staff.

·        Regularly review and update internal administration systems to ensure their relevance.

·        Conduct quarterly employee reviews, offering insights on areas for improvement and growth.

·        Prepare and present the monthly General Manager’s report at management meetings.

·        Plan and organise regular staff training sessions with a regular focus on Host responsibility training.

·        Interview and hire new staff

·        Capable of working independently and managing time efficiently.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
