The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for performing skilled electrical work in  the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures,  ensuring compliance with AS/NZS Electrical standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems and low-voltage equipment.
  • Interprets electrical plans for new home constructions, commercial buildings, and electrical installations.
  • Designs functional electrical circuits for various systems.
  • Identifies and resolves defects in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Installs electrical fittings in existing homes, buildings, and other structures.
  • Estimates labor and material costs based on blueprints or work plans.
  • Communicates technical issues clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in English.
  • Coordinates with clients and other relevant personnel.
  • Keeps clients informed of task completion and estimated timeframes for task completion.
  • Adheres to New Zealand laws and regulations regarding electrical safety.
  • Follows all company safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Properly uses and maintains hand tools and equipment for electrical repair tasks.
  • Meets company attendance standards.
  • Complies with company uniform, appearance, and grooming policies.
  • Completes assigned tasks as requested by managers or team members.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must hold an NZ electrical license 
  • A commitment to health and safety practices
  • Must be able to distinguish the full spectrum 
    of colours, particularly when working with electrical wires
  • Ability to interpret graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids, and 
    accurately measure distances using tools like a tape measure
