The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with AS/NZS Electrical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems and low-voltage equipment.
- Interprets electrical plans for new home constructions, commercial buildings, and electrical installations.
- Designs functional electrical circuits for various systems.
- Identifies and resolves defects in electrical systems and equipment.
- Installs electrical fittings in existing homes, buildings, and other structures.
- Estimates labor and material costs based on blueprints or work plans.
- Communicates technical issues clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in English.
- Coordinates with clients and other relevant personnel.
- Keeps clients informed of task completion and estimated timeframes for task completion.
- Adheres to New Zealand laws and regulations regarding electrical safety.
- Follows all company safety protocols and guidelines.
- Properly uses and maintains hand tools and equipment for electrical repair tasks.
- Meets company attendance standards.
- Complies with company uniform, appearance, and grooming policies.
- Completes assigned tasks as requested by managers or team members.
Skills and Experience:
- Must hold an NZ electrical license
- A commitment to health and safety practices
- Must be able to distinguish the full spectrum
of colours, particularly when working with electrical wires - Ability to interpret graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids, and
accurately measure distances using tools like a tape measure
