Due to staff shortage, we are currently seeking 1 Floor Finisher with experience in carpet and vinyl laying to join our team

What you will do?

·        Measure new projects and provide flooring solution options to clients.

·        Verify on site measurements with floor plans.

·        Prepare a variety of subfloors including working with floor grinders, levelling compounds, vinyl underlays and other floor preparation products to ensure suitability for floor coverings.

·        Work on floor plans and prepare materials, liaising with clients, suppliers and management.

·        Remove existing flooring and prepare surfaces.

·        Measure, process, fix and install underlay materials.

·        Carry out installation of various types of floor coverings with high level of craftsmanship, including installation of wall, ceiling, counter and bench coverings if required.

·        Cut shapes around objects such as stairs or pot belly stoves and trim edges, ensuring a floor covering is the perfect fit.

·        Implement quality check and secure floor coverings, fitting edge trims and ensuring the finished floor looks seamless and professional without flaws.

·        Clean and buff floors to remove dust, debris, or any residue left from installation processes.

·        Repair baseboard moulding and damaged floor covers, reapply finishes or replace sections of damaged flooring.

·        Adhere to health and safety processes and policies.

 

To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

·        A minimum of  2 years of proven experience in carpet and vinyl laying and installation, or a NZ Register Level 4 qualification.

·        Basic math skills and knowledge of flooring materials.

·        Physical strength, stamina and dexterity, able to handle regular lifting of heavy coverings and frequent kneeling.

·        Be able to enjoy dealing with people with communication skills.

·        Conscientious with great attention to detail.

·        Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.

·        Clear criminal conviction history.

·        Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

·        Knowledge of all the applicable health and safety standards.

·        be flexible working weekends and night times required for some projects.

 

Pay rates range from $29.66 to $32 depending on individual skills and experience.

The working hours will be minumum from 30 working hours to maximum 40 working hours a week.
