Te Whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity

The Mana Ake Kaimahi is part of the multi-disciplinary team who work with primary school aged tamariki and their whanau who are facing mental health issues. The Mana Ake Kaimahi is an integral part of the service and works across the service to provide interventions which includes screening, assessment, treatment, and support.

Nga kawenga matua o te mahi – key responsibilities of the role

  • Screen, assess and provide treatment options to tamariki and their whānau
  • Be committed to providing a safe and supportive service for tamariki and their whānau
  • Evidence your commitment to Kaupapa Māori and Pasifika practice, knowledge, and skills
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the school and community-based mental health system in Canterbury

The ideal candidate

  • Must have experience in working with tamariki with mental health issues
  • Must be able to quickly form positive relationships with all people and whānau members
  • Must have an NZQA level 4+ qualification in a health or social work-related profession or working towards.
  • May have a current practicing certificate and membership to a professional body.
  • Has recent or current experience working in field work in Mental Health.
  • Has knowledge of and experience working with the Māori and Pasifika community
