POSITION SUMMARY
This role is central to the operations of our mixed livestock farm, encompassing the care
and management of multiple animal types, including but not limited to cattle, sheep,
and goats. The successful candidate plans, organises, controls, coordinates and
performs farming operations to breed and raise a variety of livestock while ensuring
animal welfare, efficient pasture use, and strong farm performance across seasonal
cycles. The role demands practical skills, physical resilience, and a solid understanding
of multi-species farm operations.
- Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.
- Employee housing is provided on-site, and applicants must reside in the farm accommodation. No drive-in options available.
- Accommodation may be shared or private, depending on availability at the time of successful placement. No pets allowed.
Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement:
- 2 years experience in Agriculture or a relevant tertiary qualification
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record.
- Must have a driver licence

- Understanding of animal health and welfare best practices.
- Experience operating farm machinery and equipment.

- High level of physical fitness and resilience to perform labour-intensive tasks
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Livestock Management (Mixed Species)
- Plans and coordinates the daily care, feeding, and watering of various livestock
species. - Performs livestock handling and movement, ensuring animal welfare and
efficient grazing. - Organises rotational grazing schedules and livestock grouping based on age,
species, and purpose (e.g., breeding, fattening).
Animal Health & Welfare
- Monitors livestock for signs of illness or distress and organises timely treatment
or veterinary support. - Performs routine animal health care procedures such as drenching,
vaccinations, and hoof trimming. - Maintains hygienic and species-appropriate living conditions to support the
health and productivity of all animals
Grazing & Feed Management
- Plans and manages feed budgeting, grazing rotations, and supplementary
feeding across livestock types. - Controls pasture use through regular monitoring of pasture growth and feed
quality. - Coordinates hay and silage distribution, ensuring feed availability during dry or
cold seasons.
Breeding & Reproduction Support
- Organises and assists with seasonal mating programs, supporting optimal
genetic outcomes. - Coordinates and performs activities during birthing periods (e.g., lambing,
calving, kidding) to ensure animal wellbeing. - Maintains accurate records of breeding cycles, progeny performance, and
reproduction outcomes.
Record Keeping & Data Entry
- Maintains comprehensive records of livestock births, deaths, health treatments,
and inventory movements. - Inputs and analyses data related to livestock performance, grazing efficiency,
and reproduction. - Coordinates record-keeping efforts to ensure compliance with industry and
regulatory standards.
General Farm Operations
- Plans and performs routine farm infrastructure maintenance including fencing,
troughs, and water systems. - Operates, maintains, and controls the safe use of tractors, quad bikes, feeding
equipment, and other machinery. - Coordinates farm improvements and assists with construction or repair projects
as needed.
Team Collaboration & Supervision
- Assists with task scheduling and day-to-day planning during high-demand
periods. - Supervises and trains seasonal or junior staff, ensuring tasks are performed
efficiently and safely. - Collaborates with the farm manager to control operational workflow and
livestock programs.
Safety & Compliance
- Plans and follows farm safety protocols and biosecurity procedures across all
operations. - Controls access to restricted areas and ensures that tools and equipment are
used safely. - Participates in health and safety audits and implements corrective actions
where required.
