Full-Time Sole-Charge Baker– Bakery in Taupo

 

Job Description

 

We are a busy bakery café located in Taupo currently seeking a full time Baker. This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 3 years’ of professional baking experience or relevant qualifications to showcase their skills.

 

To be successful in the role you will have experience baking pies, pastries, desserts, bread and cakes. You should also be able to make your pastry and fillings on your own without supervision.

 

Our bakery opens 7 days a week, and you would start work from 4 pm to 12am midnight. The expected work week is minimum 30 hours to maximum 40 hours a week depending on roster.

 

Hourly rate, dependent on skills level and experience, is in the range of $25 to $30 per hour.

 

You will be working unsupervised, and we therefore need someone who has experience working on their own for a bakery or similar establishment.

 

As a sole charge Baker your responsibilities include

 

  • Inspect and clean equipment and machinery before production, ensuring compliance with food safety and occupational health regulations.
  • Check the quality of raw materials, weigh and measure ingredients accurately.
  • Mix, knead, mould, cut, and shape dough and pastry products.
  • Prepare and manage all aspects of pastry fillings and production independently.
  • Monitor oven temperatures, bake products in batches, and ensure correct baking times for optimal results.
  • Apply icing, glazes, and decorative finishes to cakes, pastries, and baked goods.
  • Responsible for open bakery cafe  
  • Operate machinery for rolling, moulding dough, and cutting biscuits.
  • Maintain ingredient inventory by monitoring freshness and stock levels.
  • Keep the work environment clean by following food safety standards, cleaning equipment, and greasing trays.
  • Perform basic machinery maintenance and ensure all tools are properly cleaned and stored at the end of the day.

 

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  •        You must have either a relevant Level 4 qualification OR
  •        at least 3 years of relevant experience in a commercial bakery, bakery school, café, restaurant, hotel, or similar establishment.
