Violin Tutor

About the Role
Blockhouse Bay School of Music is looking for an experienced and passionate Violin Tutor to join our music education team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality violin instruction to students of various age groups and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Lessons will be conducted in person at our studio and/or at local school locations.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver individual and group violin lessons to our students
Teach music theory, aural skills, and practical technique
Prepare students for performances, recitals, and examinations (e.g. Trinity, ABRSM)
Develop tailored learning plans based on students’ levels and goals
Provide constructive feedback and track student progress
Maintain clear and professional communication with students and parents
Actively participate in the school community, events, and activities
Inspire a positive and collaborative learning culture
Maintain lesson records and student reports

Skills and Experience Required:
Proven experience teaching violin to children and adults
Strong foundation in classical music and violin technique
Familiarity with international music examination systems (ABRSM, Trinity College etc.)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to inspire and motivate students with patience and professionalism
Time management and reliability in maintaining lesson schedules

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s qualification in violin music performance, music education, or equivalent OR at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience supported by performance or education background. The ability to play piano accompaniment is an advantage but not essential

Hours of Work: Minimum 30 hours per week
Hourly Pay Rate: $30 - $45
