This role supports the Operations team by safely and efficiently assisting with manual demolition and asbestos removal, in accordance with industry regulations and company guidelines

- This position involves regular travel to various project sites in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland, and Waikato, as determined by operational demands. Applicants must be willing and able to travel as part of their role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the dismantling and demolition of structures under supervision.
- Handle tools and equipment as required for demolition activities.
- Ensure materials are properly sorted and disposed of in compliance with environmental
regulations. - Assist in the safe removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), following proper
protocols. - Work with the team to ensure that all containment measures (e.g., sealing work areas) are properly implemented.
- Participate in the cleaning and decontamination process post-removal.
- Assist with maintaining a tidy and organized work environment.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are stored safely when not in use.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and waste, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project efficiency and assist with additional
tasks as needed. - Monitor demolition and asbestos removal progress and address any issues as they arise.
- Carry out other tasks and follow instructions for work completion on-site or in the yard.
- Ensure the site and yard is kept clean and organized.
- Adhere to the asbestos regulations 2016 at all times.
Communication:
- Maintain radio or telephone contact with the Operations Manager, Site Supervisor and Transport Manager to receive instructions or to be dispatched to a new location.
Compliance:
- Follow site-specific safety procedures, identifying and addressing hazards before starting work.
- Regularly check and maintain tools and equipment to ensure it’s in safe working order; report any defects to the Transport Manager.
- Adhere to environmental and waste disposal regulations, ensuring materials and waste are handled legally and responsibly.
- Follow all relevant legislation, including health and safety, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
- Keep certifications current and attend refresher courses or safety training as required.
- Report any accidents, near misses, or safety incidents promptly to the Site Manager for documentation and corrective action.
- Follow proper procedures when handling hazardous materials, including asbestos, in line with company protocols and legal requirements.
Administration:
- Accurately record and submit weekly hours worked for payroll, documenting overtime or additional work.
- Assist with project-specific documentation, including safety reports, site assessments, and job completion checklists.
- Track and report material and equipment usage, noting shortages or replenishment needs.
- Ensure work is completed on schedule, reporting any delays or issues to the Site Manager.
- Communicate clearly with the Operations team and other workers about daily tasks and operational concerns.
- Document and report accidents, injuries, or near-misses promptly, ensuring necessary forms are completed and submitted.
- Keep accurate records of materials and products transported.
- Maintain a valid and clean driver’s license.
Health ans Safety:
- Ensure safe handling, transport, and disposal of asbestos and other hazardous materials.
- Always wear the required PPE, including respirators, hard hat, high-vis clothing, gloves, safety boots, ear protection, and eye protection when required.
- Actively participate in safety briefings and ensure an understanding of site-specific hazards.
- Follow safe work practices, particularly when dealing with asbestos or dangerous materials.
- Follow site-specific emergency procedures, including evacuation routes, fire safety, and first aid protocols.
- Follow company safety rules, promote a safety-first culture, and address hazards or unsafe practices immediately.
- Report safety incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions to the Site Manager, ensuring proper documentation and investigation.
- Take regular breaks to prevent fatigue and stay alert while operating machinery.
- Adhere to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
